There will be four Bank competitions this year, the fishery will be closed to bank anglers on the dates of the competitions. If anyone would like to be a Marshal for any of the competitions just let me know.

Intermediate Fly-fishing Course Only One Places Left
10am - 3pm Sunday 8th April 2012
Mainly revolving around casting issues, this course is designed to meet the needs of fly fishers with some experience who wish to progress. With small groups, content can be adapted to meet individual needs. There is also the opportunity to address problems and faults that are difficult to solve alone. Common requests include: -
• Dealing with awkward breezes
• Increasing distance
• Hauling techniques
• Improving presentation

2012 TEFF Greys National Bank Championships,
Saturday 14th April 2012
2012 TEFF Greys National Bank Championships, Individual & Team Heat will be held at Lockwood Beck North Yorkshire on the Saturday 14th April 2012. Further details will be available soon.
LOCKWOOD BECK COMPETITION RULES
Competitors will dispatch the first two Rainbows caught, thereafter catch and release will apply with each fish being witnessed and signed for on the competitors scorecard by one of the match Controllers or Officials. (All Brown trout must be returned and will be counted as released fish from the start of the competition). A Competition briefing will be given at 8.30am where each competitor will draw for his or her starting peg for the first session. At the conclusion of each session each competitor will move 5 pegs (e.g. peg 1 will move to peg 6 after the first session and then peg 11 for the third ect). The competition will be fished to 8 sessions being 40 minutes duration. 5 minutes between each session has been allowed to enable anglers to move to their next peg. The lunch break will be one hour with all fish kept on the morning session to be weighed and recorded by a competition Official.

1. All competitors must be in possession of a valid Environmental Agency rod licence.
2. No wading allowed (except when landing or returning a fish) Anglers may wear waders as protection from the elements.
3. Anglers must be in position of a knotless mesh landing net.
4. Sight Bobs must be capable catching fish, IE. They must include a barbless or de-barbed hook not larger than a standard size 10. Only flies dressed on single point hooks are allowed. These must be barbless and can be weighted. (Conventional hooks with barbs removed are acceptable). Only one fly larger than a standard size 10 to be attached to the leader. Three flies size 10 or smaller may be used including a sight Bob. (Periodic fly checks will be carried out)
5. Accidentally foul hooked fish (i.e. those hooked further back than the eye) must be returned and shall not count towards the anglers score.
6. A limit of five fish from any one session or peg shall apply. Any angler catching 5 fish in one session shall cease fishing until the start of the next session.
7. A maximum of three rods may be assembled, though only one at a time may be used.
8. Competitors are not permitted to use shooting heads or joined or lead-core lines. Braded leaders weighted or un-weighted may be used.
9. Mobile Phones may be taking on to the fishery but must be turned off during the competition and may only be used for emergency purposes. Mobile Phones and other communication devices may not be used to communicate with other competitors under any circumstances, either by voice message or text message. Anglers found breaking this rule will be disqualified from the competition. Fish finding devices are also banned on the day of the competition.
10. Competitors are not permitted to engage in any form of betting, including sweepstakes, connected with this competition.
11. If any competitor sees anything that contravenes these rules they must immediately notify the individual concerned and report the incident to the nearest Official who will deal with the matter.
Placing will be calculated by the total number of fish caught. A tie on the number of fish will be resolved by the weight of the first two fish caught .If there is still a tie the heaviest fish will prevail.
Any dispute or complaint must be reported to the match Official within 30 minutes of the end of the match. The match Official will adjudicate within one hour. If the adjudicator(s) considers that the competitor has not complied with the rules he or she will be disqualified.

The junior days are supported by the Cleveland branch of the Salmon & Trout Association. During the course of the day, the young anglers will: -
• Look at the insects that provide the natural food for trout at Lockwood
• Learn to tie flies to imitate the natural food
• Be taught the basic casting skills by qualified coaches
• Try their luck at landing one of Lockwood's trout
