Average weight of fish kept 2lb 2oz

The bad weather with heavy rain and very strong winds with snow kept angler numbers low.

Worm and maggot have caught equally well with most of the rainbows been caught in the top 2ft and the browns on ledgerd worm or maggot fished close to the shore. The dam and high bank have fished best in northerly and westerly winds with the moor side best when the wind comes from the south.

There is still a very large head of supper quality rainbows from 2lb to the high teens in the lake as well as some excellent out of season brown trout, which must be returned to the water.

Lockwood opens at 10am and close at 4.00pm

Average weight of fish kept 2lb 8oz

Rod average 3.6

As expected anglers have caught a lot of top quality rainbows in the 3lb to 6lb class
Boat anglers had good sport with the fly. Mark Walker had 39 on cats whisker fished under an indicator returning one of 13lb and one of 10lb. Les Davison caught 14 over two days from a boat on buzzer and kept his best rainbow of 9lb 5oz. Mark came back for the bait fishing on Thursday and caught another double of 10lb from the overflow end of the dam on maggot. Most anglers fishing bait have caught, and a lot have had their limits. Browns have been showing up a lot more than I throat they would and most have been in the 3lb to 5lb class, anglers are reminded that browns must be returned to the water with out delay.

Three anglers have been banned for using none permitted baits. Anglers are reminded that only worm and maggot are allowed to be brought on to the fishery.
