As I have been saying for the past two weeks all we needed was for the wind to drop and change direction with a slight rise in temperature for the fishing to improve. And what an improvement we have seen both bank and boat anglers are catching from all arias of the lake.
Bank
Andrew Bogan landed eleven rainbows to 5lb from the bottom moor side block he caught on buzzers and dry’s. Colin Brown caught nine on size 16 and 18 CDC Shuttlecocks from the bottom of the moor side. Keith Bunett caught nine to 4lb from the top of the moor side no Shuttlecocks. Les Davison caught nine to 5lb 4oz from the overflow end of the dam and the jetty. Less caught on a small Cut Throat Cat, orange blob and red flexi worm. Dave Walker caught eight to 3lb from the jetty on red flexi worm. Glen Thompson caught six on buzzers from the top moor side block.

Boats
We had sixteen anglers fishing from boats today and only one failed to catch. Kevin Pick caught ten, Tony Bell had eight and Jason Nunn had seven. Most of the others had between three and six fish.
Twelve anglers from NWL Game Angling Club caught forty eight rainbows for an impressive rod average of four keeping forty two fish averaging 2lb.

Anglers caught from all around the lake today they had fish rising all day the problem was that they were feeding hard on tiny black fly and 2-3mm buzzers. The most successful method to catch them was to fish under them with nymphs and small lures.

Ian Rush caught seven from the moor side. Les Davison caught seven from the jetty four on red flexi worm and three on orange blob. Ian Morrison and Rob Lincoln both had six on Hears Ear Nymphs from the moor side. Malcolm Carter caught the best fish of the day with his last cast the 9lb 4oz rainbow took a Yellow Dancer from the moor side.

Andrew Nunn caught six on Buzzer fishing down the Woodside.

10 Anglers caught 53 Rainbows to 4lb 8oz.

Steve Mills caught eight teen on Foam Beetles fishing at the top of the moor side. Steve tried lures dry’s and nymphs without success before lunch around about 12.30 he noticed small beetles on his jacket changed to a Foam Beetle and couldn’t stop catching. A Edwards caught eight keeping three for 8lb 8oz from the moor side on a Olive Nymph and a Copper buzzer fished on the dropper. Stan Drummond caught six on buzzers from the moor side. Gordon Rooks caught six keeping three for 6lb 8oz on CDC Shuttlecock’s from the Point. William Leach caught five on Shuttlecock’s from the moor side and Brian Gardiner had four and lost two more off on Cats Whisker from the jetty.

11 Anglers caught 41 rainbows to 5lb

The forecast was for the fog to lift by 11am as usual it was wrong and we had fog all day with on more than 100mt visibility and the air temperature was only 6c. Even so we had fish rising all day.

Mick Powell caught five from the moor side one on CDC Shuttlecock the rest on a Black F Fly he hooked and lost more fish than he landed. G Barnett caught five on buzzers.
Boat
George Binx caught nine fishing out from the wood side on Klinkhamers from the wheeley boat. Mrs Olive Murray caught seven on flexi worms and olive nymph. Dermot Speight caught five for 12lb.

It was another very cold day with fog for most of it. Small Buzzers accounted for nearly all the fish caught only two of the eleven anglers fishing failed to catch.
We will be stocking tomorrow Friday with around 240 rainbows from 1lb 12oz to about 12lb.

Colin Brown caught seven to 3lb on size 16 Buzzers from the moor side. Garry Coverdale caught six to 6lb on Buzzer fished 18in under an indicator from the bottom moor side block. Brian Gardiner and John Grace both had three.

Boat
Andy Clark caught eleven keeping three for 8lb all caught on size 16 Buzzer fishing out from the culvert.

20 Anglers caught 103 Rainbows to 4lb 4oz

16 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 2lb 3oz.

The day started badly with thick fog and only 50 to 100 mt visibility but the fish were still feeding hard on the surface at about 12 o’clock the fog lifted and so did the temperature fish were feeding all around the lake.
The lake was stocked with 240 Rainbows from 1lb 12oz to 12lb today

John McGarrell caught nineteen on size 14 and 16 Foam Beetles from the jetty and moor side. M Jones caught thirteen four on CDC Shuttlecocks and the rest on Montana’s from the top of the moor side.

Boat
Malcolm Jefferson caught twenty six to 4lb on Cats Whisker fishing out from the culvert.

Bank anglers had another good day with plenty of fish feeding close to the bank. Boats found it a challenge in the strong SSW wind. Only four of the twenty eight anglers fishing failed to land a fish.

Mike Ayton caught seventeen on Cats Whisker wading out from the culvert. Andrew Bogan and sister Kate caught fifteen between them from the moor side Andrew had thirteen to 3lb on a Cut Throat Cat and Kate four to 4lb 8oz on the same pattern .Ken Shaw caught nine from the top of the wood side and the moor side on Foam Beetles and buzzers.Brian Lees caught nine to 5lb fishing in to the wind at the overflow end of the dam on Cats Whisker. Andrew Greet and Billy Wilson both had eight from the bottom of the moor side. Keith Thompson caught seven on CDC Shuttlecocks from the holly Bush.

Boats
J Smith and John Hoyle caught fifteen between them pulling lures fishing out from the boat jetty. Husband and wife Peter and Ann Mclean caught nine between them to 5lb 10oz. Peter had five and Ann four both returned fish to 5lb.
