Catch return Sunday 26th April to Saturday 2nd May

Ian Richardson fished on after his Flyfishing course and caught this lovely 5lb Brown from the point on a Dawson’s Olive.

85 Anglers have caught 307 Rainbows to 6lb and 1 Brown of 3lb 8oz
Rod Average 3.6
79 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 2lb 8oz
228 Rainbows to 6lb were returned.

Sunday 26th
26 Anglers have caught 32 Rainbows to 4lb
Rod Average 1.5
10 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 2lb 6oz
22 Rainbows to 4lb were returned.
Anglers had another hard day and had to put up with another very cold day, we had the wind coming from an N to NE direction all day with the air temp staying around the 7-8c. Most fish were caught fishing lures close to the bottom.

Bank
Ian McLay caught 4 from the jetty on Cats Whisker. Daren Parry and Thomas Ayton both hat 4 from the dam.
Boats
Ian and Adam Greensmith took advantage of our last 4hour boat permit and caught 8 between them to 4lb on Black Fritz

Monday 27th
11 Anglers caught 23 Rainbows to 4lb 8oz

10 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 2lb 8oz
13 Rainbows to 4lb were returned

Yet another very cold day with only two of the eleven fishing failing to catch fish.

Bank
Brian Gardiner caught 5 to 3lb 8oz on Cormorants from the jetty. Les Davison had 4 to 4lb 6oz and Tomas Ayton had 4 to 3lb 8oz fishing the overflow end of the dam.

Colin Crossman caught 2 rainbows.

Tuesday 28st
13 Anglers caught 49 Rainbows to 4lb 8oz

13 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 2lb 8oz
36 Rainbows to 4lb were returned

We had another very cold day with most fish caught close to the bottom.

Les Davison caught 11 rainbows to 3lb 8oz on Cutthroat Cats 4 from the Jetty and 7 from the Dam. Daren Parry caught 8 from the dam on a buzzer fished under an indicator. Andy Clark caught 7 from the dam on Black Fritz. John Heward and Dave Sanders had 5 each from the dam and Brian Gardiner had 4 from the jetty on Black Cormorants.

Steve Mills had 4 to 4lb 8oz on Cutthroat Cats fishing down the woodside.

Wednesday 29th

5 Anglers caught 19 Rainbows to 4lb 8oz

4 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 3lb 4oz
15 Rainbows to 4lb were returned

Bank
Scottish visitor Bill Rankin returned 10 rainbows from the dam all caught on small black wets. Tony Legg caught 4 keeping two for 7lb 8oz on Dawson’s Olive from the jetty.

Boats
Malcom Grainger caught 2 to 5lb.

Thursday 30th
6 Anglers caught 19 Rainbows to 4lb.

5 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 2lb 4oz.
14 Rainbows to 4lb were returned
Another very cold day with not many fish showing, We are stocking tomorrow Friday with 175 rainbows from 1lb 12oz to 6lb.

Ian Morrison caught 7 to 3lb on CDC Shuttlecocks from the jetty.

Boat
Tim Grove caught 8 to 4lb on Buzzers and Diawl Bach fished between 5 to 6ft down Tim caught from the culvert and woodside.

Friday 1st May
18 Anglers caught 92 Rainbows to 6lb and 1- 3lb 8oz Brown

19 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 2lb 11oz
72 Rainbows to 6lb were returned

Only one of the 18 anglers fishing failed to catch today with fish coming from all areas of the lake.

Bank
Colin Brown caught 8 from the dam and jetty on Red Buzzers fished under an indicator. G Byers caught 7 from the dam and moorside on hoppers and small Olive Nomads. Paul Blight caught 6 from the dam on Cutthroat Cats fished on an intermediate line. Keith Bunnett had 6 on Hoppers from the dam and moorside. Simon Gerner kept 3 fish for 9lb 12oz all caught from the dam.

Boats
John McGarrell caught 18 rainbows to 4lb and one 3lb 8oz brown on squirmy worms, Buzzers and Foam Beetles John caught fish from all areas of the lake and had his first five fishing from the jetty. Tim Grove caught 11 to 6lb on Buzzers fished on a slow sinking line. Peter and Ann McLean caught 8 between them and N Sinclair had 8 fishing on the last 4hour permit.

Saturday 2nd May
12 Anglers caught 72 Rainbows to 4lb

9 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 2lb 4oz
63 Rainbows to 4lb were returned.

Only two of the twelve anglers fishing today failed to catch on what was a very cold and windy day bank anglers stayed on the more sheltered moorside the boats started on the woodside but went over to the warmer moorside when the wind got up. The two float tube anglers stayed close to the old slipway but had to give it up by 2.30pm as they were frozen I am amazed they lasted so long.

Keith Bunnett caught 8 and lost 3 more off fishing along the moorside with a small Olive Nomad. A Paxton caught 6 on Gold head Hears Ear from the moorside.

Boats
N Robinson and D Crosby caught 15 rainbows between them keeping 8 for 15lb. Steve and John Mills caught 12 between them keeping 4 for 12lb.

Float Tubes
Mike Ayton caught 20 rainbows to 4lb fishing out from the old slipway on a Black Cormorants and Black Fritz. Ryan Vasey caught 6 on the same patterns and lost 8 fish off fishing close to Mike.
