Another very cold day the wind might have dropped and gone round to the south east but the temperature didn’t change much. Even so Billy Wilson only fished for four hours from 8 to 12am and caught 6 to 3lb from the dam on black buzzers. Les Davison had 5 to 4lb on Cats Whisker from the jetty in a three hour evening spell. P Mcnulty had 5 on Olive Fritz from the dam and Ian Buckingham had 4 to 4lb 4oz from the dam and culvert fishing on our last 4hour permit.
Paul Drummond caught 5 on black Cormorant fishing out from the jetty.

Conditions were a lot better to day
Jim Tate caught 10 to 4lb from the jetty on a Cats Whisker fished under an indicator. Bernard Fitzhugh had 9 from the dam on a Cats Whisker fished under an indicator.
Colin Crossman caught 9 on buzzers fishing down the wood side.

WE stocked the lake at 6.30pm today with 600 quality Rainbow Trout from 1lb 12oz to 6lb 125 of the fish were over 3lb that’s 2200 fish gone in in the first three weeks of the season and only 280 have been kept.
The day started with bright sunshine and clouded up from lunchtime. All the fish that were caught were caught after 12pm.
Neil Sinclair made good use of our last 4 hour permit catching 6 on a yellow blob fished under an indicator. Jeff Lister had 4 fishing on the last 4hour permit and less Davison had 4 on Black Cormorant

Tuesday night’s stocking certainly livened things up.
Graham Shoutham waded at the culvert and caught 30 rainbows to 5lb on Cats Whisker and Cormorants. Colin Brown fished near the overflow and caught 25 rainbows to 4lb all caught on a miny Cats Whisker fished under an indicator. Brian Gardiner caught 23 to 3lb 8oz from the jetty Brian caught all his fish on
Cutthroat Cats. Les Davison had 18 to 6lb from the dam and Jetty Les caught most of his fish on Cutthroat Cats. Ken Store had 17 and Paul Blight 11 from the dam on lures.
Only two boats out but they had some excellent sport. Dermot Speight caught 30 rainbows keeping four fish for 15lb 8oz. he fished out from the Woodside and culvert with most of his fish coming from the culvert. Dermot fished with two cormorants and a small gold head black fritz on the point taking fish on all three patterns. Alan Corr took Steve Cawthorpe for his first day fly fishing and what a day he had. Alan caught 25 to 5lb on Wicked White Buzzers and Steve had 13 on Cutthroat Cats. They caught all there fish fishing out from the forked tree along the wood side.

The day started with snow and hale and it was freezing the wind started from the S and went around to the NW and stayed strong all day.
Ken Wilkes caught 12 on a small hears ear nymph from the dam and jetty. Mick Humphreys had his best day ever at Lockwood landing 10 and losing a further 5 fishing from the overflow end of the dam all on Dawson’s Olive. Tim Grove caught 5 from the dam on Cormorants.
Only Olive Murray braved the conditions today, Olive caught 13 rainbows to 5lb 8oz fishing out from the wood side on Hears Ear Nymphs and a small Dawson’s Nomad.

Yet another excellent days fishing at Lockwood with the anglers who fished with intermediate or slow sinking lines having the best of the fishing today
Colin Lynas caught 18 to 4lb and lost 10 off on Dawson’s Nomad fished on a slow sinking line close to the bottom from the overflow end of the dam. Bernard Fitzhugh caught 15 to 5lb and lost loads off fishing from the jetty with three buzzers fished on a floating line with a very slow retrieve. M Jones caught 12 – 4 from the dam and 8 wading at the culvert. K Johnson caught 7 fishing on our last four hour permit. Paul Sidgwick kept 4 fish for 13lb 8oz (3lb 3lb8oz 3lb.8oz 3lb 8oz)
John McGarrell caught 21 – 4 from the wood side and 17 fishing out from the bottom of the moor side on a small black nomad and cormorants fished on a slow sinking line close to the bottom in 4ft of water. . Tim Grove had 12 on the same patterns fishing out from the culvert. Garry Coverdale had 9 and John Man had 6.

Well it was a very windy day but as I keep telling people no matter which way the wind is blowing there’s always some were to fish at Lockwood. The first 100mt of the dam and all of the fishing lodge bank were sheltered and produced fish. Only 2 of the 12 anglers fishing failed to catch those who braved the wind on the moor side caught fish as well.
Ryan Vasey caught 21 rainbows to 5lb 8oz 4 from the high bank and 17 from the dam all were caught on Dawson’s Nomad fished on an intermediate line. Mike Ayton had 9 from the moor side jetty and dam on Cutthroat Cats fished on an intermediate. Graham Hill caught 4 from the wood side. John Waller waded out among the waves at the culvert and landed 4 keeping 3 for 8lb 8oz. All were caught on Dawson’s Nomads fished on an intermediate line. P McNulty fished on our last four hour permit and caught 3 from the point and 2 from the dam.
Only one boat out Peter Mclean caught 4 and lost twice as many off fishing out from the wood side.
