Catch Return Sunday 20th to Saturday 26th March

26th March. Phil Green caught this lovely 7lb 12oz Brown trout from the overflow end of the dam on a white fritz, the fish helped Phil to win our Trout Masters fish off.

Sunday 20th
20 Anglers have caught 202 Rainbows to 6lb and returned 2 out of season browns to 3lb.

N Sincliair made good use of one of our 4hour permits catching twenty four rainbows on a yellow blob fished under an indercator from the Woodside bank, his fishing partner caught thirteen on the same method. Daniel Jefferson caught twenty one rainbows from the top moor side block and Robert Thompson followed yesterday’s twenty with ten today from the top of the moor side. Graham shoutham caught ten rainbows from the Woodside, Melvin Sanders and John Taylor caught nine and eight on Dawson’s Olive from the point.

Boats
Dermot Speight and Mike Gadd caught twenty three rainbows between them to 5lb. Les Davison and grandson Ben caught twenty fishing out from the boat jetty and Mick Burr and A Johnson caught eighteen on buzzers.

Monday 21st
7 Anglers caught 44 Rainbows to 5lb.

Bank
With bright sunshine and a very light breeze sport started slowly, as soon as the cloud built up around lunch time things changed. Michel Kilvington caught five on Dawson’s Olive from the top moorside block.

Boats:- Only one out.
John McGarrell caught ten rainbows before lunch on buzzers from all over the lake and twenty one after lunch on buzzers and Daiwl Bach from the Whitby end of the dam.

Tuesday 22nd
8 Anglers caught 31 Rainbows to 10lb and 2 Browns to 5lb.
Rod average 4.8
5 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 3lb 4oz.

William Leitch caught eight on black buzzer from the Whitby end of the dam. Keith Thompson caught seven rainbows and one lovely 5lb brown on Cats Whisker and his son Glen had five on the same pattern from the overflow end of the dam, Glen returned overwintered rainbows of 10 and 7lb. E Halliday only fished from 2 to 4.30pm, he caught six rainbows from the Whitby end of the dam.

Boats:- Only one out.
Les Davison caught eleven rainbows on lures keeping one of 5lb.

Wednesday 23rd
16 Anglers caught 200 Rainbows 10lb 8oz and 2 Browns to 6lb.

18 Fish were kept at an average weight of 3lb 5oz

Bank
What a day anglers caught fish from all over the lake with buzzers the most productive pattern. Andrew Grabham caught thirty seven rainbows on black buzzers. Andrew caught his fish from all around the lake. Daniel Jefferson caught twenty seven rainbows to 6lb fishing in front of the top moorside block. Ian Vickas caught twenty two from the point on small lures and nymphs, Ian kept a lovely conditioned 10lb 8oz overwintered rainbow. John Parker was another angler who fished right around the bank, He caught twenty one rainbows on black Buzzer to 5lb. John Heward caught eighteen on nymphs and S Linford caught eleven rainbows and two browns keeping one overwintered 7lb 12oz rainbow.

Thursday 24th
20 Anglers caught 165 Rainbows Rod average 8.3
22 Fish were kept at an average weight of 2lb. 4oz

Frank Shotton caught twenty four rainbows from the top of the moorside. Colin Brown fished buzzers in front of the top moorside block and caught fifteen rainbows to 4lb. Gary and Bryan Coverdale caught fourteen rainbows from the point on buzzers and Malcolm Carter caught eleven from the high Bank.

Boats:- Four Out
John McGarrel caught twenty eight rainbows on black Buzzers and Daiwl Bach. His best fish weighed 11lb in the net and was returned.
Olive Murray and Keith Richards had seventeen rainbows to 5lb between them, most were caught on Shipman’s and buzzers. N Strong and Darren Jones caught seventeen and Les Davison had eleven.

Friday 25th

Stocked today with 215 rainbows from 1lb 12oz to 7lb
16 Anglers caught 91 Rainbows to 5lb Rod average 6.4
23 Fish were kept at an average weight of 2lb 3oz

Bank
Tim Grove fished a team of three buzzers and caught thirteen rainbows from the Woodside and moorside. William Leitch caught eleven in four hours from the point. William fished a single black buzzer under an indicator. K Steedman fished the high bank with a team of three buzzers and caught eight rainbows. J Sanderson caught eight from the mooside bank.

Husband and wife P and C McKay caught twenty four between them and R Beck caught ten on buzzers and hares ear.

Saturday 26th
23 Anglers caught 172 Rainbows to 6lb and 2 Browns to 7lb 12oz Rod average 7.6
48 Fish were kept at an average weight of 2lb 8oz.

Bank
Phil Green won our trout master’s fish off. The competition started at 10am and was due to end at 4pm but was finished by 10.40am with all four competitor’s weighing in there four fish. Phil Green 4fish 13lb 8oz, C Malpass 4fish 8lb 11oz, J Stephenson 4fish 7lb 12oz and M G Brown 4fish 7lb 6oz.

Colin Lynas caught eleven from the top moorside block on Dawson’s Nomad. Junior Scott Almanderea caught eleven from the moorside. Scott was one four of our junior season permit holders who caught thirty three fish between them. K Hill and Mike walker both had ten and Billy Wilson nine.
