The high air and rising water temperatures have made for some difficult fishing with boat anglers having the best sport. Anglers have caught on Dawson’s olive, Cut Throat Cat, Damsels, Hoppers, Emerges, CDC Shuttlecock’s and small black Dry’s. it’s typical July fishing where the best tactic is to keep on the move as the fish are well spread and can be feeding in one area but not in another. Boat anglers have caught from the deep water off the dam and the bays around the point.
Mathew Hudson and Ryan Greer had 27 to their boat on Saturday night with most of their fish caught after 8pm. Steve Mills had 9 from his boat on Saturday fishing near the old slipway on Apps Worm. Les Davison and Brian Gardiner had 11 to their boat Keeping 4 for 14lb. Mrs Olive Murray had 5 to her boat on Sunday keeping one of 3lb and returning 2- 4lb and 1- 6lb rainbows and a 4lb 8oz Brown. Carl Malpass had 4 to his boat on Thursday from the deep water off the dam. Wheel Chair angler George Binks caught 15 on Wednesday from our wheely boat, George caught on Klinkhamers and Black Spiders from the bay on the Lodge side of the point.
We still have Two places left on our Junior Fly-fishing Course on July 29th
