Very cold winds and low water levels have kept angler numbers down. Anglers who don’t mind the slightly lower water levels have had some very good sport form all around the lake. The water levels are going up steadily and at this rate we should be full by mid to late April if we get some rain we will be full a lot sooner.

Daniel Jefferson caught nineteen rainbows and Dave Appleton eighteen fishing the Woodside bank and the top of the moorside. Paul Runec caught seventeen on lures from the moorside keeping three for 10lb 8oz. Paul Drummond fished out from the top moorside block and caught fourteen rainbows on small white nomads. Ben Race caught eleven and Graham Southam eleven from the top of the moorside.
Less Davison caught eight fishing out from the Woodside less returned three fish from 6 to 8lb.
18 Anglers caught 118 Rainbows to 11lb and returned 2 out of season browns of 4lb and 6lb.

With bright sunshine and a very light breeze sport started slowly, as soon as the cloud built up around lunch time things changed. Jon Nutsford caught fifteen rainbows from the high bank on Montana’s and small lures. F Shotton had fourteen on white humongous and black fritz. William Leitch caught eleven on Montana’s from the bottom Woodside block. Keith and Glen Thompson caught five each fishing in front of the trees up from the fishing lodge. They both caught on cats whisker with Keith returning one over wintered 11lb rainbow and glen one of 10lb. G Gardiner caught fifteen rainbows and one 6lb brown from the point on Dawson’s Olive.
Petter and Ann Mclean caught eight on buzzers fishing out from the culvert and Olive Murray caught five on pheasant tails and hears ears drifting in front of the holly bush.

John Heward caught nineteen rainbows on buzzers and nymphs from the point.

Garry Coverdale caught fourteen from the Woodside and point on small lures William Leitch caught eight from the high bank and Ian Morrison had three from the moor

Frank Shotton caught nineteen rainbows from the top of the moorside keeping two for 5lb. Frank caught all his fish on small white nomads and small Dawson’s Olive. Michael Kilvington caught fourteen fishing out from the top moorside block. Jon Nutsford caught nineteen rainbows from the moorside. John Urquhart caught nine from the point on Olive Nomad.
Mrs Olive Murray caught six on small black nymphs and Les Davison had five on lures.
Stocked today with 215 rainbows from 1lb 12oz to 6lb
13 Anglers caught 97 Rainbows. Rod average 7.5

William Leitch caught seven at the Whitby end of the dam on small Montana nymphs. Bernard Fitzhugh drifted buzzers at the overflow end of the dam and caught five.
We only had three boats out but they all did well on buzzers. Husband and wife Peter and Ann McLean caught fourth rainbows between them fishing out from the culvert. Peter had twenty five and Ann fifteen all caught on black buzzer, The four fish they kept weighed in at 11lb 8oz. John McGarrell had an excellent first day of the season catching twenty four rainbows on buzzers, John fished out from the top moorside block. Olive Murray only fished for two hours landing five rainbows to 5lb losing as many off all olives fish were caught on buzzers.

Another excellent days sport was had by nearly all today. Graham Hill landed thirty one rainbows on small nymphs and lures fishing in front of the top moorside block his fishing partner Robert Thompson had twenty fishing just up from him, both anglers also lost a lot of fish off. Andrew Bogan caught eighteen from the point. P Drummond caught nine from the point on small White lures. Colin Brown caught sixteen rainbows from all around the lake on nymphs and small lures. Andrew Greet had twenty four rainbows to 5lb from the Whitby end of the dam. Andrew caught most of his fish on Cats Whiskers. Mark Davies caught fifteen rainbows from the overflow end of the dam.
Lockwood opens at 8am and closes at 6. 30pm
