Catch return for week ending Saturday 1st December 2007

9-fished fly, catching 17 fish rod average 1.8 and 43 fished bait, catching 111 fish rod average 2.6

Average weight of fish kept 2lb 2oz

The bad weather with heavy rain and very strong winds kept angler numbers low.

The best fish of the week was again caught on fly; the superb wild or grow on Brown trout of 10lb 8oz fell to Stuart Kidner on an olive gold head lure fished 50mt up from the over flow on the dam wall. Fly anglers fishing indicators with Cats Whisker or buzzer in the top 18in have had some success, at times when conditions are right fish can be seen rising to small dries.

Worm and maggot have caught equally well with most of the rainbows been caught in the top 2ft and the browns on ledgerd worm or maggot fished close to the shore. The dam and high bank have fished best in northerly and westerly winds with the moor side best when the wind comes from the south.

Anglers can use Fly, Worm and Maggot at Lockwood to the 30th December.
