It’s been a tuff week with the strong winds making fishing difficult on some days; plenty of fish have been rising on the cloudy days when there has been less wind.
Laurence Hawley caught the best Brown of the season so far from a boat the 8lb fish took a Dawson’s Nomad fished on a lead core line at about 20ft, Laurence also caught some nice rainbows at the same sort of depth. Mark Walker made use of a bite indicator and cat’s whisker to catch 27 fish from the Wheelyboat slipway, Mark has now Caught 501 fish in 47 visits that’s a rod average of 10.7.
D Storey caught 10 and Mike Smith kept 4 for 14lb. John McGarrell caught 11 on Shipman’s from the dam and boat jetty, John has now caught 434 fish in 49 visits that’s a rod average of 8.8.
The Lockwood bank competition on the 8th September has been cancelled.
Sport should started to improve with more fish been caught during the day as the days grow shorter. Dries such as Daddy’s and Klinkhamers and nymphs such as Pheasant Tail and Hears Ear should do well. Top lures should be Dawson’s Nomad, Cats Whisker, Minky and Muddler. September and October always fish well with a lot of surfaces feeding fish and in resent years quite a lot of fry bashing.
Stocking this week with 200 Rainbows averaging 2lb 4oz and 130 Rainbows, Blues and Browns from 4lb to 8lb average 5lb
We open at 8am and close at 8.15 pm
