Catch return for week ending 18 August 2007

Average weight of 2lb 10oz

Rod average 2.1

It’s been a difficult week with most anglers finding conditions very hard; the evening rise has been excellent on most nights with sedge patterns doing well, Angus Mcleod made the most of sedges to hook the best fish of the season so far. The 15lb 10oz Rainbow took a size 12 elk hair sedge from the Woodside block, click on pictures to see this fish. Mike Ayton caught 28 over two days on a variety of methods including diawl bach and cats whisker fished under an indicator. John Mcgarrell caught 9 from the boat jetty on size 22 dries. Mike has caught 190 fish in 18 visits a rod average of 10.6 and John has caught 423 fish in 46 visits a rod average of 9.2 which goes to show that if you vary your methods to the conditions you can catch a lot of fish at Lockwood.

The Lockwood bank competition on the 8th September has been cancelled.

Sport has started to improve with more fish been caught during the day on dries and nymphs. September and October always fish well with a lot of surfaces feeding fish and in resent years quite a lot of fry bashing.

Top patterns will be.
Dries -: CDC shuttlecock, Daddies, Klinkhamers, CDC Shipman’s and Sedge.
Nymphs -: Damsel, Hears Ear, Pheasant Tail, and Diawl Bach.
Lures -: Black Fritz, Olive Fritz, Epoxy Fry, Minkie, Muddler, and Zonker.

Stocking this week with 230 Rainbows Blues and browns from 2lb to 7lb.
